Afro-Pop Culture Festival Airroom Board Operator

Calendar Happens On Jun 19, 2026
Time 2:30pm to 6:45pm

Description

KBOO will be broadcasting live from the Afro-Pop Culture Festival on June 19! The goal of the festival is to share Afro-pop culture, bring people together, and build diverse roots. The broadcast will entail live music, story telling, interviews, and a fashion show. The event is being held at Ethos Music Center on 2 N Killingsworth Street.

We've never broadcasted a fashion show before, so there will be some experimentation and producers will have to be ready to adjust on the fly. It should be a ton of fun.

This position is at the station (20 SE 8th Ave), not on-site. You will be working the airroom board, monitoring the feed and communicating with the engineer via Slack about adjustments that need to be made, and listening for FCC violations.

The broadcast runs from 3pm to 6:30pm. You should arrive at the station at 2:30pm to get set up and check the feed from the site. At the end of the shift, you will transition to our regular programming. Azia always has an amazing guide to help you through it. FCC AND BOARD OPERATOR TRAINING ARE REQUIRED.
