Recording Details

  • If you are unable to access the folder, you can email your audio file to Program@kboo.org
  • Accepted file types: WAV, FLAC, or MP3
  • Promos should not exceed 45 seconds in duration
  • Please make sure to watch your recording levels, so your voice doesn't clip.
  • If you are capable of adding a music bed, we deeply appreciate it! If not, no worries. We can seek support from an editing volunteer after you submit your voicing clip.
    • If you add a music bed, make sure the music bed does not overpower the voice
    • Please select an instrumental bluegrass track if you can!

Where and how to record your promo:
If you have taken Introduction to Studio Production, you can check out a production studio (by email volunteer@kboo.org) and record/mix your promo at the station in a production studio!

You may also produce the promo remotely. If you don't have any equipment, a smartphone with a basic recording app works just fine, but please be mindful of audio quality.

Pro Tip for recording at home: Record in a dense space, surrounding yourself with blankets and pillows can help absorb reverb and white noise. Closets usually work great for this! You can also place a sock over your phone speaker to act as a pop filter.
